Facebook blocks Taiwan’s Weather Bureau

According to Taiwan Central Weather Bureau (CWB), its weather prediction service on the world’s biggest social networking site, FaceBook, has been blocked “for unknown reason” for at least one week.
An official from the bureau said in a September 29 note that it had been barred from posting FaceBook messages since September 27 of this year.
In a statement released by the bureau, it said, “In a recent notice to the bureau, FaceBook cited a "violation of user rules" as a reason for the ban.”
No response has been received by the bureau from the Facebook officials, despite repeated requests for a clearance for the ban.
While talking to media, the deputy chief of the bureau’s Meteorological Information Center, Liu Guo-long stated that the country’s Chinese-language daily Liberty Times Sept. 30 that the CWB had read all the Facebook rules and still was at a loss as to what rules it had violated.
The company statement said, “The bureau therefore simply started a similar service on a new Facebook account.”
In the meantime, the banned pages had around 25,371 followers since it was established on June 10, and the new page had around 1,006 followers.
