Shanghai’s Foreign Trade Touches US$31.27 billion mark in August

According to figures released by the Shanghai Statistics Bureau, Shanghai’s import and export value increased by 32.4 percent year on year to hit US$31.27 billion in the last month of this year.

Moreover, the city’s exports were hit US$15.12 billion in August, an increase of 25.5 percent year on year, and its imports remained up by 39.6 percent as compared to last year to US$16.14 billion.

The export value of mechanical as well as electronic products were zoomed 23.1 percent year on year to reach the mark of US$10.57 billion in the last month, and the import value of such products was US$9.54 billion, a growth of
39.1 percent as compared to the same period of last year.

Meanwhile, Shanghai’s exports and imports of high-tech products were US$6.71 billion and US$6.17 billion in the month, registered a growth of 25.9 percent and 40.1 percent year on year, respectively.

In August this year (2010), the city’s exports to its top three trade partners, the European Union, the United States and Japan, were US$3.26 billion, US$3.5 billion and US$1.62 billion respectively, and the imports from the three partners stood at US$3.11 billion, US$1.91 billion and US$2.52 billion, respectively.
