Beijing’s Foreign Trade climbs 31.3pct in Aug

According to the latest data released by the Beijing Statistics Bureau, the export as well as import value in Beijing increased by 31.3 percent year on year to hit US$25.43 billion in the last month of this year.

In August, the capital city recorded export value growth of 21.5 percent year on year to reach US$4.84 billion.

Beijing saw its import value increasing 33.9 percent to hit US$20.58 billion in August 2010.

During the period of January to August of this year, the city’s international trade amounted US$194.9 billion, up 49.6 percent as compared to the same period of last year. Export value increased by 18.4 percent year on year to reach US$35.9 billion, whilest import value grew by 59 percent to reach US$159 billion.

In the first eight months of this year, Beijing exported around US$21.79 billion worth of mechanical and electronics items, up 12.3 percent as compared to the same period of last year.

Export volume of cell phones increased 23.3 percent year on year to 120 million units, but export value for such products fell 1.1 percent year on year to US$7.36 billion.

In the meantime, the imports of mechanical and electronics products totaled US$42.89 billion in the period, 34.1 percent growth as compared to the last year.

The imports of crude oil increased by 24.6 percent year on year to 130 million metric tons in the period of January-August 2010.
