Shanghai’s Green Energy Auto Production To Hit RMB 30 Bln By 2012

According to a local government officer at the International Forum on Chinese Automobile industry development held in Tianjin, Shanghai is likely to realize about RMB 30 billion in production value of new energy autos by the next two years (2012).

While talking to media, an administrator of Shanghai's new energy automobile promotion office, Wang Zhe announced that that city plans to set up 25,000 charging stations for electricity and hybrid power vehicles by 2012, when approximately 100,000 new energy autos, comprising 60,000 passenger vehicles, will be produced in Shanghai on an annual basis.

While talking to media, Wang added that the private buyers of new energy vehicles may obtain subsidies as the city is in the process of implementing the subsidies to the federal administration of the country.

In addition, minister of the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, Wan Gang mentioned that the country plans to realize industrialization in electric vehicle industry by 2015.

While talking to media, a source familiar to the matter said that the layout for the new energy industry will be made out within two months.
