Taiwan donates 400 books to Columbia University library

According to latest reports, Taiwan’s leading library has donated nearly 400 books to a library of Columbia University. Moreover, the statement was released by the Taiwan’s representative office in New York.
While talking to reporters, the official said, “Taiwan's National Central Library has made the book donation to Columbia University's C. V. Starr East Asian Library.”
Further, the library’s acting director, Ria Koopmans –de Bruijn said, “The university maintains friendly relations with the Republic of China, which is the official name of Taiwan. She also said Columbia has exchanged books and documents preserved on microfilm with Taiwan's Academia Sinica as well.”
On the other hand, a spokesperson from the Columbia’s Weatherhead East Asian Institute told media that the donations will prove useful for Taiwan studies courses the institute will open next semester.
The C. V. Starr East Asian Library has one of the largest collections of East Asian books of any U. S. library, including 870,000 volumes in Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Tibetan.
